Study: Thermophilic, acidophilic bacterium
show Abstracthide Abstract

Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius subsp. acidocaldarius DSM 446. Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius subsp. acidocaldarius DSM 446 was isolated from an acidic hot spring. This organism is both thermophilic and acidophilic and produces heat and acid stable enzymes, such as amylase and esterase, which may be important in industry. This is the type strain and the genome sequence will provide information on the production and regulation of these proteins as well as on the adaptations necessary for life in a hot, acidic environment.
Sample: Generic sample from Alicyclobacillus acidocaldarius subsp. acidocaldarius DSM 446
